Pakistan will ban 26/11 attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed’s Jamaat-ud-Dawa and Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation in compliance with UN resolutions, its interior minister Ahsan Iqbal said, according to an Express Tribune report.

Iqbal’s comments come days after Pakistan’s president signed an ordinance that brought all individuals and organisations banned by the UN Security Council (UNSC) under the ambit of the country’s stringent Anti-Terrorism Act. The move will enable Islamabad to take action against groups and individuals banned by the UNSC – that includes sealing their offices and freezing their bank accounts. Pakistan’s law ministry notified this amendment on February 12, the Express Tribune’s report said.

The report also said both the JuD and the FIF had been proscribed in February by the government of the Pakistani province of Punjab.
